He can also be successful against ranged heros with close range spells like storm or lesh. That being said I often pick him as a middle lane against melee heros. My DotA 2 name is Bongs'away and my W/L with that character is 51-26. This play style isn't the only way to enjoy Warlock though, he is a fabulous middle against certain heros. More often than not he's drafted as a support/lane control character for a very hard carry that has low early game kill potential (Spec, Void ect.). #3 Alright!!! Let me start off by saying that my favorite hero is Warlock and he can be played ALMOST anywhere and any lane he wants to. I would love to hear any alternative ways of playing this hero. I also wanted to start a discussion of other Warlock builds you all might want to share. If you saw one of your team mates playing this, would you get angry and start flaming or would you feel more confident about your chances of winning? So I wanted to get all of your opinions on this playstyle. I did notice that his team mates were critical of him. This video really inspired me to begin playing the warlock with this playstyle again. (Sorry, I had to put a link in because i don't know how to embed youtube videos on here.) This is the total opposite of how I played the warlock, so I was digging around trying to find out how to play him again when I came across this video: The guides I read on the dota website talked about how bad the DoT was and how good the slow and chains spells were. The only problem I had with this build was the end game, as my build seemed to get less and less effective the longer the game went on (probably because of my item choices).Īnyway, now that Dota 2 is coming out, I was watching some videos and reading some guides on the Warlock. I was able to support the team with the two heals and utilize the ultimate to get some kills and stuns. Although I am sure I could have researched better items to get, I had some good success with this build. I would get mek (the healing shield) and the ultimate orb for the stats. The way I played the warlock was to stack stats and get the DoT (Last Word I believe?) and the ultimate. I don't even know how many patches there has been since then and how much the meta game has shifted. And I had just thought that the ultimate was really cool haha. One of my favorite heros was the warlock. In those days, I played dota on Warcraft 3 all the time. I have not played dota since before The Wrath of the Lich King came out for WoW.
